We take the state of our planet very seriously at Carrot & Coriander and our timber is sourced from reputable British suppliers and is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) accredited, so we only use timber that has come from sustained forests throughout the UK and around the world. We always endeavour to try and minimize the wastage we produce. Our construction methods use as much of the timber length as possible and wherever possible any off-cuts are used in the production of other products. Any waste that is produced is then recycled through approved wood recycling schemes.
We also try to use timber that has had a previous life. Our recycled ranges are constructed entirely from untreated timber pallets, because of this we have limitations on the products and sizes that we can offer. In some circumstances we can only offer products in new timber. Our recycled products availability is subject to material availability.
When exposed to sunlight, all species of timber will gradually change to a silvery/grey colour. This is only a surface effect and does not affect the strength of the timber. It will also absorb water causing it to expand and contract, sometimes causing splitting, this again is a natural process that should not affect the timbers strength.
